why yes.... a modern op amp weighs 50 milligrams instead of 40 pounds,
has gain 10,000 times higher, input leakage 10,000 times lower,
freq response 10,000 times higher, and VASTLY better DC specs...
It isn't the construction that makes it an 'operational amplifier',
it's the provision of a large amount of gain so that you can put
components in the feedback path and know EXACTLY what will happen..
I gotta say, they were cuter when they were made with valves.
but, you still need to reset your integrator before a computing run ;-)
