All,
Not to deter people purchasing novamod kits, but I have completed most of
the modularization on my SH-101. I have looked at the novamod specs and
it's much different from what I've done... while novamod adds a lot of
goodies on, modularizing the 101 does _not_, but leaves the edges of the
101's architecture very blurry. I know I mentioned this to synth-diy, but
am not sure if I mentioned it to AH.
I used switchcraft 112 1/4" jacks w/make or break connections... thus the
unit functions normally without any jacks inserted. It's a great option
for those of us with a modular (asm-1!) around to mesh with the 101. It's
also relatively cheap compared to other mods. A list of added jacks:
outs: VCO pulse, VCO saw, VCO sub-osc, noise, random, LFO tri, LFO pulse,
ADSR. (also made the c/v+gate in/out all 1/4")
ins: VCO pulsewidth, VCF cutoff, VCF audio.
I didn't do any VCA connections since I'm not too interested in that area
of modding, but they could be done rather easily. The jacks themselves fit
nicely on the front of the unit in the small recession at the top. I have
the jacks laid out above their appropriate mod areas (for the most part)
for easy to read patches. I've been having loads of fun ringmodding osc's
and sending them back into the 101. (ever hear a 4 oscillator 101?) Or
patching the ADSR to the VCO for nice little percussive blips!
I can post gruesome details where to cut traces, solder connections, etc.
if there's any interest (email me!). If there isn't, I won't bother
posting any more details. (you can pretty much figure the connections out
from the schematics anyways.)
Next I want to add LFO delay...
