not so long ago i asked a similar question on this list. i said i
ordered my fatman and i was looking for a nice point to start
synth-diy. well .. it seems that thefatman is a great point to start.
it is a nice analog synth and not only you can learn a lot of analog
synthesis by building it, it is probably the most modded piece of
equipment on earth (am i right?)

> I really cannot speak on other kits

the reactions i got on my request were very positive about the MOTM
modules and the ASM-1 project (both most mentioned in the replies).
after i built my fatman i think i will go for the asm-1 (maybe in
between some extra filter-modules).

it all depends on what you want. IF you want a analog 2 osc. synth,
go for it and order your fatman now. IF you want to start a modular
system, get some MOTM modules or buy the 9700 series from paia (as
soon as they're available, won't be long i hope). and so on ...
