His recommendation is 110% spot-on - save up about $60 and buy a Weller.
DigiKey sells them. This will last you a lifetime and it makes all the
difference in the world in terms of ease of use, comfort and quality of
joint.
Don't get their cheapest unit, get the temperature regulated one that sells
for about $60 - this will produce much better results.

I just had let everyone know that this list is great. I should capitalize
that, G-R-E-AT ! It's everything that I had (previously) thought Analogue
Heaven would be. Now I just need to get a new (soldering) iron. Which
brings me to a rather elementary question:
What brand/type(s) of iron is the best (opinions here) for synth work?
Looking for aomething a little more than "Low-temp."
