MacOS 8.5

In response to below:
1. My Mac doesn't crash. Honest. I take care of it though. A brand new
machine, using it correctly, shouldn't crash. Be sure to buy the new
MacOS 8.5. That'll ensure no OS crashes.
2. I've never used Vision. The computer shouldn't crash, though. If the
computer crashes, with most certainty there is a problem with the
software.
3. Compared to a Pentium II, for most operations the G3 processors are
twice as fast. So, if you buy a 233MHz, double it to 466MHz. That'd make
it comparable to Pentium II.
4. I use Virtual PC to run Windows 95 software. It runs very well. As
well as Windows 95 runs. My only real restriction was RAM. Virtual PC
ran slow, until I pumped up its memory allocation.
For what you want to do, you'll need a lot of RAM. My desktop machine
has 192MB of RAM and I don't use this machine for audio production. Be
sure to get a lot of RAM.

use would be, "Is he friendly?" --R.M. Weiner

Ok, I'm about to go approx. 4 grand in the hole to buy the most kick-ass
G3... Before I do so, I would like some experienced persons to tell me
a few
things..
*how often do they crash?
*how often to they crash when sequencing? (mainly, i'm concerned with
Vision, but others are welcome)
*how fast are they really when compared to a pentium2?
*how well do they run pc software under software emulation?
If I cant get any "oh my god" revelations, I probably will just save my
money and buy a Yamaha qy70 or qy700 cuz the mac plus all the software
is gonna hurt me bad monetarily since I need to rebuy all my sequencer
software and hardware.
I'm steering clear of the imac until they figure out when they are
coming out with a usb midi port that I can actually buy.
