Falcon Nightmare

Hi Folks,
If you think it's been strangely quiet on the Chris Crosskey front for a
few days then the reason is I took my Falcon to pieces a few days ago in
order to measure it up for a new case. I put it back together last night
(old case, new one still needs some small mods) and fired it up to find
that the PSU has died. It's just sat on the side for a few days as I
won't be using it in the new case, and now it's dead. If anyone has one
I can borrow for a few days I'd be very grateful.

If you need to get hold of me the my works address is
chris.crosskey at metrics.co.uk.

Can someone please cross-post this to Z-A (ignore this bit synth fans)
for those people who don't get A-C. Does anyone have the circuit
diagream and test info for the Falcon PSU, I might as well try to fix
it. THe symptom it's displaying is a rather faint buzzing sound. I'm
going to talk to Titan and sere if Dave can help (unlikely, but he
does/did have a huge pile of Falcon PSU's and he thinks it's worth
fixing them when he hasn't got anything better to do). I'll talk to Mick
Lock as well so no-one needs to bother trying MJL either.

On a happier note, the first batch of Serial Mouse Adaptor PCB's have
arrived and should be populated by the end of the week. It's a cute,
little unit and I'm confident that not only can the be used outside the
machine but that they could be internally mounted as well, although you
might not get much of a choice as to where they go. Free-keys users
will have it easy (we always do) as there's bucket loads of space where
it'll fit in there. I shold be in a postition to demonstrate it at WAG
next weekend. The Mouse-Bursterwill cost 18UKP plus 1.40 P+P cheques
made out to Abingdon Sythesis Projects. There's an outside chance that
I'll be ina position to demonstrate a new IDE interface for the STFM,
internal fitting, your choice of 2.5 or 3.5 (probably need a recasing
job or an external box for 3.5) drives as it has both connectors,
STartIDE will cost 60 UKP inc P+P, I can do th efitting for 20 UKP
(Provisional, I need to check the logistics of fitting it) I need to
find some way of reliably couriering units back to their owners so I
don't know about P+P on fitted ones. I hope to be able to offer a
package deal of 100 UKP including fitting and a 60Mb internal 2.5
hard-drive, as I've found a source of cheap 2.5s but I need to confirm
that they work with the units properly, and I need to get some cables
for them too...

Apologies for the length of this mail and it's commercial nature..
More new stuff coming soon :-))
