ODP: where to start ?

This is one from the heart -- I have seen too many attempts to
REproduce what we have already had for years. Dare to be an 
original!  Remember folks, our hands are not tied like those of the
large manufacturers, whose product will not sell, if it does not
sound `familiar.' Arrrghh!
