Hi!

First, let's keep out the religous part of this discussion (so sorry
for opening up for such a discussion). There is enought of that
happening all over the place... however, there might still be some
relevant stuff around the way OS will interact with such applications.
This could help people in their understanding of things when they
build their own synths. I still think this list was vaugly related to
Synth DIY, so let us keep slighly on that track shall we?

Microsoft spawned of Xenix to Santa Cruz Operations (SCO) and you
could also run it on 80286 and 80386 boxes. Actually, the first UNIX
that I could run at home where Xenix on a very DIY-like 8MHz 286
machine with 20 MB of harddisk, and a CGA card connected to a 26-inch
color TV. SCO developed Xenix further to become SCO Unix. SCO later
bought the USL (Unix System Laboratories) that AT&T spawned of and
with it the AT&T Unix code. World is small.

I still have my 30 360k disks and manuals for Xenix ;)

Cheers,
Magnus
