I'm horrorified anytime anybody says anything about WD-40 and
electronics, especally tape decks. I've seen a ton of good
equipment ruined with it. Can't speak for anyone else but I've
spent days cleaning and cleaning someones prized whatever trying
to get WD-40 out after they thought..."Why I think l'll use WD-40.
That'll fix it." I have actually taken stuff directly from a
customer and thrown it directly in the trash! Then sent them off
to buy a new whatever it used to be. Had to trash a porta-studio
07 once. There was an eighth of an inch of WD-40 in the case. The
board was saturated. It was completely ruined.
Like I said it's fine for lug nuts. I am not bashing WD-40. People
do not read labels and most think if a little is good a lot must
be great! It's important to nip it in the bud before something
really bad happens to something really good. Not even a piece of
crap deserves to go out that way. So it may be seem like over
reacting but it's justified.
BTW I do have a can of WD-40 in my cabnet.
