Ensoniq Problems

I have never worked on any ensoniq gear before. I am having the following
problems:

ESQ1: 	Midi Channel changes randomly
	Does not sync. with external clock sources 
	Seems to run out of memory terribly fast when sequencing

Mirage: Does not read disks after boot up
	Could not change sounds and now won't even produce any sounds at
	all. ( I have been using it for over a year just as a Midi
	Controller.
	It will not sample.

Any suggestions? Any Precautions?

One last thing... Does anyone have any plans or know where I can buy a kit
to build my own midi controller? My only requirements are Pitch, Channel
control and pitch bend.
