Embalmed sliders help

I have had this same thing happen. I have the perfect solution. On my Gemini mixer, I had a funky cross-fader. There is a spray cleaner for guitars called (strangly enough) Guitar contact cleaner, you should be able to find it at most music stores with any kind of guitar tech. That cleans it up wonderfully (it is ment for guitar pots and any moving electronic pots) as it is a spray liquid that evaporates and leaves no residue.

After I cleaned up ALL of the sliders and got the funk out of them, I took a chance and used, guess what, WD-40. The slliders never felt better and never sounded as good (er...never sounded so transparent). I would definatly recomend the LIQUID guitar pot cleaner to anybody for regular maintainance of pots and sliders, and would also recomend WD-40 to those adventuresome ones who what fluid movement of their sliders. : )

I just wanted to clear up the question with my road-tested experience of my solution. Hope it works for you.

P.S. I would NEVER put powder or dust in my pots or sliders ON PURPOSE!!!
