CEM filter mods? (re:studio 440)

As an extra query attached to the question on the cem3389 resonance...
(below).
I have an Ensoniq Mirage, which has eight cem3328 VCF chips, and I was
thinking something along the same lines as well, but mainly for manual
filter cutoff sweep. So, can anyone help both of us out? The
implementation using pots probably sounds a bit dodgy to most, but I just
want some sort of manual control (until someone figures out how to re-write
the OS to handle it)

(Oh, one thing - I've found replacement cem3328s virtually impossible to
find, so I don't really want to just try-and-see... hey, where's that
smoke coming from...)
