For those interested in PICs, some info...

Below is a list of freeware / information sites for PICs. The NOPPP is
a low cost DIY programmer, as is ITU's (which also comes assembled and tested).
The ITU page also lists some great links. SQ-1 publishes two books for beginners.
VERY well written. Microchip gives away their IDE programmer and all sorts of
application notes (so many that one may wonder what is left that has not already
been programmed). The pic84.html page is a good introduction to the most popular
"easy" to program chip. The Tinaja page is Don Lancaster's page which offers some
very useful, concise introductory PIC information in his Resource Bin articles,
posted in .pdf format. Although the addresses are not below, you may want to check
two others makers of programmers: Dontronics (http://www.dontronics.com ??) and
Microenginnering Labs (http://www.melabs.com ??), both of which make low cost
programmers. Of course, Parallax has a significant web site and Radio Shack
includes some information on the Stamp on their web page.

One need not write only assembly language with these chips. A low cost
($100) C programmer can be found at http://www.cssinfo.com/picc.html or
the same can be bought from ITU. It can be used directly with the PIC
(not the jazzed up Stamp). Microengineering Labs also has a version of Basic.
Other versions of Basic (FBasic) have also been written for Stamps or Stamp-like
chips.
