The original design is considered quite noisy. Many Korg synths
suffer fron this sub-standard VCA, from MS-20 to Mono/Poly to
Trident. I once replaced the crap (sorry) VCA in a Mono/Poly
with a SSM2020, and suddenly this beast would rival a Moog
in terms of fatness.
Ok, I take back "crap". In a MS-20, the filters are already so noisy
that it probably doesn't make a difference, and the two-transistor
VCA has interesting nonlinearities. I love the MS-20 for its strangeness.
But in conjunction with a SSM2044 filter (as in other Korg synths),
this cheap VCA is a strange choice.

Now, this was the original one.
What does your npn / pnp solution look like ?

JH.
