Of course it can, but that's no fun :-)

Seriously, I think it would be more work. Getting a expo CV input takes a
lot of bits (I don't know if 16 bits is enough in this case). Also, a DSP
development kits start $100, and I reckon that this whole project will be
cheaper than that.

I'm planning on doing some DSP stuff in the future, but at the present
time I have more than enough ordinary analog and hybrid projects I want to
do...
