ive been lurkin around on the list for quite some time now, not really
understanding what was being discussed, as i really know nothing about diy.
ive been trying to decide on a good first project for a while now, and i
decided PAiA gear would be the best, as they can help me if i cant build it,
and i hear they make great manuals and very simple kits. i was deciding
between the fatman and the vocoder, and ive decided on the vocoder. so now im
gonna ask u guys... is this thing a good first kit? hows it sound, sonically
i mean, if i build it right? what tools do i need EXACTLY that dont come with
the kit? right now i have a cheapo radio shack soldering iron, and thats
about it. should i get a more expensive soldering iron? i am on a very
*tight* budget, keep in mind. now lets say i cant build the vocoder. can i
send it to PAiA and have them construct it for me? if so how much is the fee
for this? or have i just wasted 100 dollars? o yeah, cant forget the most
important question: will this be a good learning experience? what i mean is,
will i learn some of the vocabulary and the parts and all to help me further
my diy hobbiest activities? all responses would be greatly, greatly
appreciated.
