All,
My plans for the next few months have solidified enough so that I can
announce my next project to the list.
I have access to a buchla 100 modular. (ooh, ahh!) I intend to sample it
creatively and extensively to DAT and get a run of cds made up. The intial
run will be 500. Cost will be as cheap as I can make it.. think minimal
packaging and no flashy colors. hopefully the cost will end up being
around $17 for a single copy, $12 for 3+ (includes shipping). I'm
debating making a cheaper deal if you order early.
Also on the cd will be samples of my modular sh-101, combo patches with
the buchla _and_ the 101, and several sequenced "environments" which will
be from 30-45 seconds long and be basically little tracks which you can
get immersed in, sample, and hopefully be inspired by. Of course all
tracks are royalty-free. There will be an emphasis on weird sounds... of
course there will be many samples for trance, acid, and ambient music, but
there will also be a lot of highly textural dischordiant/atonal samples
for use in sound collage. Think Subotnick, think tape music.
What's primarily keeping me back right now is acquiring a rackmount DAT
deck.. I have access to one now, but I really need one of my own right in
my studio. This requires me researching decks and making a large purchase
on credit, which I'm sorta hedging on. I'm probably going to end up
getting a Tascam DA-20mkII or DA-30mkII. As soon as I have a URL for a
site with samples, pictures, dates, and ordering info I'll make another
(more official ;) announcement to the public.
Any comments/suggestions are welcome on this, as I'm starting the ball
rolling any day now. Especially helpful would be suggestions on marketing
sample cds.
