strobe lights and tempo

A typical arrangement would have the following components:

Microphone - preamplifier - full wave detector - low pass filter -
hysteretic comparator - photo-coupled SCR to drive strobe trigger.

Don't know who sells 'em, but a Radio Shack standard strobe
unit could be modified.
