Back again...

1.  Quick reply to the PC/Mirage questions - convert the wav files to
sys-ex and dump them via MIDI.  Of course, you need MASOS.  
Two(?) ways to do this:
   - Bob's Mirage Sampler Dumper should(? - gonna test the new one tonight)
let you do all this in the one program, or...
   - Tim's prog will convert to sys-ex, then you dump it with something
like "dumpster"

I've linked all these on my page (see sig.), included a version of Dumpster
for download complete with Request lines for the Mirage (only copied it's
folder from my home computer - THINK it includes all the stuff it needs?),
plus a few tentative sys-ex dumps to try out


2.  Problem - got that zip disk of Akai samples, turns out it's in a format
the PC won't read (says "not formatted...") - any ideas??  The AkaiDisk
prog won't read zips or CDs, only floppies, so that's no good at the moment...


3.  Re:  Cool Edit, I've found that the new version of GoldWave seems to be
pretty much similar - has all the effects like filtering, time stretching,
EQ, etc...
I was just used to using the old version of it, so I'm pretty happy with
the new one (think it's still a beta, though - download it at their site:

Don't know if I qualify as a "brave soul", but I'm taking the plunge and
downloading the new sampler dumper - if I never mail the list again, you
know the thing blew my computer up and sent me to Mirage Heaven...
