ssm 2045 vcf

Hi,

yesterday I build a vcf with the ssm 2045. The ssm 2045 consists of a
voltage controlled low pass filter with a 2 pole and a 4 pole output and
a mixer/vca. With the mixer/vca it's possible to mix between the 2 pole
and 4 pole output. I have played with it for an hour, using all kinds of
signals.
Hmmmm, this filter is to perfect, it sounds very clean and has a low
noise level, but is from a musical point of view not really interesting.
When higher signal levels are applied there is some distortion. But the
distortion sounds like music through a busted speaker. When the filter
is in oscillation the sine wave is available on both the 2 pole and 4
pole output so a 12dB/oct self oscillating filter??
Next filter definitely  will be a ladder filter.
