another wav question

Another wav question - and a stupid one, I'm sure - but anyway:
I wanted to grab little pieces of my first home made CD-R and
put them on my web pages (so you can finally hear sounds
form my diy stuff, and make me rich when you buy the CD (;->) ),
and I already have an mpeg level 3 encoder that works, but
I have difficulties to grab the sounds from the CD with the MS audio
recorder, because it will only accept a few seconds when CD quality
is selected. 
So i'd like to get another simple freeware program like this
audio recorder - any hints ? (no large software with 10.000 functions
required (;->).
