Win2K OT

Tee hee, I was going to post the same thing. Inspired a buddy who's been
giving me help and advice on my V-909 software (hi Mike!) I've been
doing a lot of reading about the BeOS, and plan to pick it up when R4
comes out in December. Unless MS takes a big change of direction, I
can't see myself ever upgrading my machine to a new version of Windows.
I like 95, I really do, but I use NT4 here at work and can't stand it -
it seems so much bigger and slower to me (I say to me because I know of
a few people who feel otherwise and who like it better)....
Anyway, apparently with R4 of the BeOS, all of the development tools
will be bundled with the OS (at no extra charge), and are based on GNU
compilers and stuff. R4 will also support SCSI - which R3 is not too
good at.
I can't wait! They have all of the documentation online for the API,
it's all native C++, all nice and clean and new. It looks so easy to
write cool multi-media, and realtime-intensive programs with this OS. My
only complaint is that the API function names use
underscores_to_separate_the_words, RatherThanUpperAndLower case letters
- oh well, you can't have everything :)
- It's definitely worth looking into, as it seems to be quickly gaining
ground with hardware makers.
