Digitech PDS-2000 - expandable?

Hi folks:

Well, looks like the DOD 8-second delay pedal I was hoping to get just
isn't coming out.  So, I am looking for other alternatives for good
loopy ambience.  I have a Digitech PDS-2000, which has 2 seconds of
delay time.  There was another pedal in the series, the PDS-8000, which
had 8 seconds of delay.  Does anyone have any ideas about expanding the
delay time?  Could switching in a bigger DRAM do the job? (OK, I have NO
idea how these things work.)

Any and all ideas welcome.  BTW, the DRAM in question is by NEC, part
number D41256C - 15 (256K).
