BTW, Im sorry for the length and OT nature of this post, but I was in St. Louis
saturday and there was a few radio announcements talking about software piracy
and they acted as if the whole worlds economy was going to go belly up if we
didnt crack down on it.. It was a very alarmist viewpoint and the legislations
they proposed were very reminiscent of the Gestapo tactics, allowing police to
just break in to someones house with a warrant to look for ANY unregistered or
expired shareware or software.. it really scared me.

Look.. now I dont advocate the whole wares issue, I have spent many pretty
pennies on ALL my software, but when you take it upon yourself to go raising a
problem where there was not one before I get irritated. The net is free, as is
ALL the speech on it.. I dont agree with porn sites, spam, wares etc, BUT, it is
no ones place to be the rat fink informer muckraker and to help the governments
of the world get a reason to regulate (ie exploit and destroy) the internet.. If
the propellerheads are so worried about craks then they need to make it with a
com port or parallel port dongle and raise the price.
We dont need alarmists going around saying the sky is falling when its only
sprinkling a little rain.. If the govts have their way we would all pay $1000
dollars a month for internet service tax and everybody on the internet would
need to have a top secret clearance...Believe me, companies like microsoft are
already doing all they can to take your computer hostage in forms of regulation
and lobbying. But,then again, you might be a socialist so this whole last
paragraph is meaningless to you. Which, I might add, is no problem and doesnt
make you a bad person and your right to being socialist is protected by all
those that had come before you and possessed enough sense to realize what
freedom is and how important it is to the development of civilized nations and
the advancement of humanity as a whole..
We cant put the whole world in bondage for the transgressions of a few.

This is understandable, and I do too.. But we also want to temper our desires
for justice in a manner that doesnt criminalize us all.
