exact laws are different in different parts of the world, but isn't a
patent meant to be protection for _commercial use_ of an original idea?
eg, going back to an example made previously of moog transistor ladder
VCF's. Building your own transistor ladder filter is not infringing the
patent. However, building them and selling them to other people is. (if
of course the patent was still in effect)
So there. This is kind of relevant to DIY-ing. :)
