Allow me to insert $0.02 as a majordomo admin/programmmer. I came in
sort of in the middle of this thread, but here goes anyway...Please
excuse my bandwidth.
The mail aliasing setup for digests in majordomo can be complicated and
is prone to error. If it is not setup right it simply chokes, and since
email is being sent to a program and not a mailbox, it has a tendancy to
get lost.
Also, there are configuration settings for majordomo that if not set
correctly will not handle certain types of addresses, and/or confuse
routing, especially when the receiving mail server is not a standards
based mail server (I won't mention names). Majordomo is a bit if a
finesse game, but works flawlessly when the kinks are worked out. It is
also extensible, something I have had to do on occasion.
Majordomo 2.0 is in beta and is due out someday soon. It will most
likely take care of all the world's problems.
