Majordomo Server Issues (?) (was: RE: strange - CD-R)

I've never had any problems with messages getting bounced back from
non-existent list members or delayed/lost postings. I don't know why
some people do and others don't.

It could be the way that majordomo scrubs the poster's email address
before re-mailing. Perhaps the format of the poster's email address is
such that, in some cases, mail sent from the list to invalid list
members (person joined the list then lost or cancelled their account)
gets bounced back to majordomo, while in other cases it gets bounced
back to the poster.

FWIW, the MFC list (Visual C++ programmers list that runs on Listserve)
has a function where it monthly sends a test message to every list
member - any that get bounced back from a postmaster (which must be
separated from out-of-office auto-replies from Outlook and such) causes
the listmember to be removed from the list. I'm surprised majorodomo
doesn't offer such a feature. It would be good to have such a monthly
posting, with a reminder of how to unsubscribe, as that question seems
to get asked even more frequently than 303 questions :)
