Humor impaired answer:  The Electric Mistress was a flanger design from
Electro-Harmonix.  Renowned for wide sweep range, and ability to get
very detuned. Came in several different versions: the Electric Mistress
was battery operated, while the the Deluxe Electric Mistress was
AC-powered.

Non humor impaired:  Actually, I'm not feeling all that funny right
now.  I'm up far too late finishing a C programming assigment that does
absolutely nothing cool musically.  However, I'm sure that "Electric
Mistress" had some meaning to the preverted folks at Electro-Harmonix
(home of such bawdy names as the Big Muff Pi, the
Bass Balls, the Dirt Road Special, and the 16 Second Digital Delay).
