Good quality audio op-amp for VCF external input?

Hi folks,
I have a Paia FatMan that I am preparing to modify by adding an external
input to its VCF. The VCF itself is of the low-pass and band-pass (with
a simple mod) variety that is designed around an LM13600. Schematic for
it is at:

FatMan expert Scott Gravenhorst has a schematic for his external input
design at the following:

What I am hoping some of you can help me with is a good choice for the
audio op-amp that is needed to preamp the input signal into the VCF.
Scott mentioned to me that he used a 1458, but I was wondering if any of
you would recommend a different audio op-amp that is higher in sound
quality? I guess my only requirement is that it does not suck too much
current as it will be tapping power from the FatMan's power supply. My plan
is to make the op-amp begin to overdrive the VCF input when the 10K audio
taper pot is about halfway in its rotation range.
I'd sure appreciate any opinions on this one...thanks very much!
