Anthony,
An EPROM programmer is designed to program EPROMs. ;-) EPROM is
Electrically Programmable Read Only Memory.
These memory devices are not very closely related to op-amps. About all
they have in common is that they are "funny-little-black things-with-legs".
(although the EPROMs that most DIY'ers use are
"funny-little-gray-things-with-legs-and-a-quartz-window-on-top")
Their closest application to audio would be either for storing wavetables
in a DCO (digitally controlled oscillator), or for storing code for a
microcontroller that could then control audio circuits.
Tell us what manufacturer or model the programmer is. Some EPROM
programmers are totally software driven, so they can be updated as new
devices come out. Others are fixed function, so when they get old, they are
fairly useless because you can't find the older memory devices that they
are able to program.
If you have the time and interest, compile an inventory of the parts in
that organizer and post it here. There might be some devices in there that
people on the list would be very interested in.
Thanks,
Tim.
