VC delay & delta & sigma

I'm not sure if this can help anybody, but I found an old schematic
of a one-bit digital delay which also has some voltage control (LFO).
This schematic is from Electronics & wireless world mag. Wonder
if somebody could take a PIC microcontroller or Atmel RISC mc and
put it in the place of 4164 DRAM to make some nice waves.
