Hi All,
Things have settled down a little bit, and I have re-started limited DIY
Synth stuff.
I was much too ambitious to think I could build most of the stuff I wanted
in a couple of months!
Anyway, I have replaced ALL the sliders in my Moog Opus 3 and have a
question related to this. It seems I got two Dual Ganged 1 Meg sliders with
tapers of 15A instead of 10A. As these parts are very hard to get, and
require using allot of Karma with the vendors, I decided to "re-furbish" the
very dirty old 1 Meg 10A sliders. In the meantime I'll TRY to get new ones.
I took the sliders apart and cleaned them with Isopropyl Alcohol and now it
is time to put them back together. As there was some talk of cleaning
potentiometers on the list a couple of weeks ago I was wondering if it would
be wise to use some "conductive lubricant" (not spray on) on the mechanical
parts which rub against the sides of the metal housing. I would put nothing
on the wipers or pads of resistor stuff, but if some lubricant got on the
electrically important parts at least it would be "conductive". All the new
sliders have some kind of lubricant in and on them.
Thanks,
Malcolm
