Simple way to PM a VCO's output is to use a VC comparator on the sawtooth
wave output. The resulting PWM signal, of which you probably have one
already, can then be put through a flip-flop to make a squarewave that is
phase modulated. Half the frequency mind, but a nice Vibrato can be
simulated.
