Digital or analogue multimeter? -Reply

I recently purchased my own DMM and let me tell you I spent _quite_ a
bit of time researching it. I finally settled on an EXTECH 380763.
My requirements were that it measure Hfe, capacitance, and frequency.
Beyond that, it has a 4 1/2 digit display, which means I can get voltage
accuracy down to 100uV.
It also is NOT auto-ranging. That is the dumbest feature anyone ever
dreamed up for a DMM! It's why I'll never buy a Fluke meter. Besides,
none of the ones I've seen do Hfe anyway. :/
And lastly, price. The EXTECH was $99 from Cole Parmer.
The one drawback to it is that it doesn't have the prop arm on the
back. Instead they have an adjustable display. But I've found that I
just prop it up on things. :)
Anyhoo, that's my take on DMMs.

   Tony
