I'm not awake yet kids ..... but I might have come up with a completely new LFO type featureing 2 new functions to the LFO world. :))
The Split Wave technique that I invented last year, (Confirmed by Bob Moog, and Larry Fast, as neither of them have ever heard of it being done on VCOs, before.) and an External Input, to allow usage of other waveform shapes (at any frequency) for 1/2 of the LFOs Waveshape outputs! :O :))
Here's all of my theory/layout on it, so far.
May 21st, 1998 - Theory/Layout design by Ric Miller (Five) of Aural Research Facilities
The A.R.F. Split Wave Voltage Controlled LFO V1.00 and it's functions:
Available + & - waveform halves:
- Sine
- Triangle
- Positive Sawtooth
- Negative Sawtooth
- Pulse Width 1
- Pulse Width 2
- External In
Output Jacks:
- Sine
- Triangle
- Positive Sawtooth
- Negative Sawtooth
- Pulse Width 1
- Pulse Width 2
- Split Wave combination 1 (Made up of Sine, Tri, Saw, PW, Ext. In halves)
- Split Wave combination 2 (Made up of Sine, Tri, Saw, PW, Ext. In halves)
Input Jacks:
- CV 1
- CV 2
- PWM 1
- PWM 2
- External In
Panel Controls: (All output amounts are previous to their halves)
- LFO Speed
- CV 1 In amount
- CV 2 In amount
- PWM 1 In amount
- PWM 2 In amount
- External In Amount
- Sine Out Amount
- Triangle Out Amount
- P. Saw Out Amount
- N. Saw Out Amount
- PW 1 Out Amount
- PW 2 Out Amount
- External In Out Amount
I'll be building my first unit, using circuitry that I've used before in my Split Wave VCO V6.22.3340. I've only done experiments with Voltage Controlled LFOs, which haven't been the most successful, before. I'm going to try using another CA3080 Voltage Controlled Resistor method for this circuit. Hopefully, it'll work well. :) If anyone wishes to provide me with a schematic section for something of this purpose (based around transistors (2N3904s/2N3906s)) please do, and I'll include credit to your name, in my webpage publication of the final schematic for this unit.
Chances that this unit will be available for sale from me, are VERY slim. If anyone else wishes to use the circuit, once I have it up and running, though, please let me know your desire, and I'll fire the schematic off to you, once I've gotten it layed out. (Hopefully, later today.)
Take care all,
Five
