recommendations on good projects

I'm new to this list and I was wondering if anyone had some good 
recommendations for some economical synth projects...

(Gene, I'll probably be buying your ASM-1 PCB/Schems in the next month 
or so). 

Any leads would be appreciated.

Also, I have a sick SCi Max synth and it looks as though someone has 
tried changing some parts on it. (Bad soldering job - broken traces, 
etc)... Any ideas on troubleshooting/servicing this unit? Does anyone 
have experience with this? 

What are some of the more reliable/affordable repair shops that might be 
able to help me if I am unable to rectify the problem on my own?
