Y-ellow y'all.
I had written this before but aborted since Paul had already posted
on the matter however I noticed that it had been broght up again so I
thought I'd actually send it.

For a quick solution use the Paul Perry Axiom. "You may already have what
you need right under your nose". Get or find *say* an old drum machine that
shows the tempo on a led. Take a line off the led and run it into a
transistor. Or even an opto. Run this out to an even bigger group of
transistor on a 10 amp 12 volts supply and run car headlights off it if you
want. :)

Err of course if you do run massive incandescent bulbs you'll need to
pre-heat them. By that I mean you need to give them quite a lot of on
current so that they just glow a bit. Otherwise, like all incandescent
things, it'll take to long before they heat up and make enough light. A more
elegant solution might be to run it out to an opto and use it as the trigger
for one of those beat-triggered strobe kits that Duck-Smut use to sell.
Assuming you can get a Duck Smut kit to actually work of course. I figure
you probably need something hard to mis if a drummer's involved. :)

Hope this helps.
