No no no!  Don't apologize!  I, for one, _invite_ this stuff.  If
anyone gets a chance to try this PLEASE post your results, like did it
work, what did it sound like etc.  I wonder if the wierd part in the
middle might just be replacable with a couple of 1n914 or 1n4148
diodes?  FET?
