2M2 (2u2 for capacitors.... etc. etc.) avoids the problem of `missing
decimal points' - I'm sure that many of us here have photocopied
schematics (many will be copies of copies of ....) and a small thing like
a '.' is very easily lost :) By putting the M, k, R, u, n, p etc. in the
place of the decimal point ensures that schematics remain legible...

Well, that's what I was taught :)
