....years ago, on a different planet, people used uarts and solder....
then they found the Penfold books on making midi gear without micros, and
topped themselves because of the typos....
seriously though, while the sensible and engineering approved path is a PIC,
if you only want one channel, and monophonic to boot, then this is a UART
job. Especially for a project.
