Would like to see the source code, too. I've seen a MIDI drums
brainware on ETI mag done with 10 MHz PIC (16C84), it seems
that it can be done with 4 MHz version as well. I mean, it's
possible to emulate async serial transmitter or receiver at
MIDI baud rate by software with PIC.
The ETI MIDI trigger just had a 47k/4k7 voltage divider on
input pins (piezos can output 40V p-p), and sent the midi notes
with fixed velocity. It could be a nice starter project with PIC's,
if it could be done with more common 16F84-04P (4 MHz) version.
It seems Atmel people have a lot to loose because of these PIC's,
as there are so many apps for them now. Atmel has btw. announced
a new flash uC with 128 kb flash file (8051 family), thats lot,
would be a nice DCO chip.
