Fortunately, this is a very primitive device which has a short, completely
exposed tape loop wrapped around the whole mechanism. If it breaks, you
simply splice together a short piece of 1/4" tape and re-thread it onto the
machine (the audible splice isn't a bug, it's a feature). I assume you've
got a tape echo with a longer loop inside a cartridge of some type. I've
never had to deal with one of those. If it's like an  8-track tape I don't
know how you'd ever fix it properly. Somebody out there has to know more
about this...
