.....well whatr is happening the ferric chloride loses a chlorine atom which 
combines with the copper to make cuprous chloride sludge.... so an ounce of 
ferric chloride will remove so much copper, no more, no less.... as it gets
hotter
or more concentrated this happens faster. Adding  more hydrochloric acid is
no use..
worse, if anything.
But look how cheap ferric chloride is!
