Concerning etching panels:
Kepro Ciruit Systems has etchable nameplate material. You have to use
Sodium Persulphate as the etchant. I can't find their latest catalog right
this second so I don't know exactly what thickness, sizes, etc.

They also have PC board material that's laminated with a photosensitve
polymer film. It develops and strips with inexpensive and essentially
harmless chemicals (at least in the concentrations required). About a 45
second exposure in direct sunlight produces a latent image on the board, so
you know if you put the negative on upside down immediately (I made every
possible mistake). I originally bought a square foot of single-sided board
and what amounts to a lifetime supply of dry chemicals for about $55. The
prices have gone up slightly since then, but not much. The real snag is
that "hazardous material" handling charge UPS slaps you with now. Ouch.
Even so, it's cheap, it's convenient, and it works great. And you can etch
it with FeCl if you want.
