divide by x,y,z, or some other fave variable...

heres the somewhat of a problem...
i have a binary counter... now, id like to use it to divide by 6.
even though i have done this before its been a little while, so my brain
has rusted.
Ok, now, in binary terms, what number do i mask off for,decimal 5 or 6?
I THINK its supposed to be 5, since binary 0000 counts as a step, and i
want it to count binary 0000 to 0101 then reset.
I guess this is right, since there is 6 actual steps to get from 0000 to
0101..
lemme know if this is correct..
