VCS Answers...

I used a 4016 because the emphasis at EFM is using common parts whenever
possible.

I used 339s for the same reason.

Running the 4016 at +12V has no real audible effect, but if you look at it
with a scope you see only a positive going signal. Not want you want for
audio, although it's fine for control voltages as it usually falls in the 0-5V
range.

The 4016 will run on +3V to +15V +-7.5V peak it's on resistance is 300 ohms.
(4066 is 80 ohms). Absolute maximum voltage at any pin is +15.5V.

I chose to run it at +-5 because the Maxx has +-5 available at it's main power
supply. I could have used 220 ohm resistors and 7.1V zeners to run it at +-7.1
from a +-12/15V supply giving me 7.1VPP but 5VPP is more that adequate for
audio and most control voltage.

A trick Oberheim used was to run it at +5 / -0.6. Moog never seemed to care
about the audio and used +12 for 4016s and 4051s. On some of the later stuff
they used +-5V for a few CV things.
