Alon,
Firstly, congrats on your decision to build it for yourself.
Secondly, and more to the point, have you considered building it for
yourself with vacuum tubes? (Don't tell anyone I said this, but honestly;
they are much easier to deal with than anyone thinks...) E-mail me
personally if you'd like to discuss more.
I've only gotten lukewarm response from the synth-DIY on tube stuff, but
that's not to say that there is a lack of interest (or, is there?). The
focus here is on solid state stuff, which is no surprise due to the latter
day pre-eminence of that technical paradigm.
Thanks for this opportunity to poison your developing mind ('smile'
emoticon here). Remember: next time you're purchasing a modular analog
synthesizer, don't forget to say "tubes, please!" to your salesman. He'll
understand.
