I suspect this has been the case since '84 (see my last posting).

Because of the sheer size of the Electronotes collection, it would have to
be "captured," i.e., the text OCR'd (optical character recognition) and
then put back with the scanned graphics (there's even the possibility of
tracing the graphics--Bernie kept them simple, fortunately) to create a PDF
(Adode Acrobat) file. This drastically reduces the size of the finished
document, and you get perfect text on screen or printed out. Otherwise, the
files would be HUGE. Maybe it would fit on one CD--maybe. How many pages is
it???
As for being online, well, space is THE issue unless you know somebody or
have your own server. And then some fool will want the whole thing
converted to HTML as well. HTML with the quality of PDF is on its way but
not quite here yet.
Anyway, both would be nice but CD-ROM is a must due to the volume of material.
