vectorboards?

Hi all,
I'm looking into putting individual modules in a modular system on their
own piece of vectorboard.. in my mind this increases the easy of assembly
of the system and allows for a lot more versatility in modular creation.
The small boards would be affixed to the front panel only with their
pc-mounted pots and 2 small brackets screwed to the front panel. Power
will be supplied via a standard pc-power cable similar to Paul's MOTM
system.
Is there any problem in using the super-cheap radio shack 3-hole pattern
vectorboard? On one hand I don't want to pay the sums mouser and digikey
are asking (upwards of $20/30 a board) , but I don't want any problems
later on. My main fear is that the traces on the pads will crack and
become a nightmare to troubleshoot when things intermittantly fail. I
believe radio shack sells little vectorboards (something like 2"x3") for
on the order of 3$ a pop. I remember the solder flow on the copper being
pretty awful, but that's something I can easily deal with if I have to
choose between the two extremes.
Using breadboard or wirewrapping isn't an option.. I want a permanent
solution which is easy to produce (not breadboard) without having to
produce PC boards or purchase any new equipment (like wirewrapping tools),
which would far exceed my cost requirements.
