Parallel to Serial Midi now Working!

BIG THANKS to everyone on this great list! After 6hrs of scratching my
head, I joined this list and (through your help) quickly found my
problem.

I will eventually post the working schematic on my web site. However
just for everyone's information here are some helpful low level aspects
of transmitting MIDI.

1. Each MIDI byte is framed with a start bit = "0" and stop bit="1"
2. Each Midi message is transmitted LSB to MSB
3. A MIDI 0 is current on
4. A Midi 1 is current off (and the idle state)

My mistakes were sending MSB first and using "1" for both start and stop
bits.
